Meet The Artist: Tim Frantz' Life & Times

A first-rate musician and composer, Tim Frantz has worked with major recording artists
like B.J. Thomas, Steve Green, Dann Huff, Bill Gaither and members of the
Commodores, America, Supertramp and Duran Duran.
Frantz received his first guitar at eleven years old and never put it down. Although he
studied classical guitar his love for popular forms of music led him to play in various
rock bands. According to Tim, “after my first year in college I had a personal
encounter with Jesus Christ. I was inspired by that experience to transfer to a Christian
University (Azusa Pacific) and I turned out to be the first music student at the
University who majored in guitar.”
After graduating Tim toured nationally and internationally with “Truth,” and then with
the Bill Gaither Trio. His other passion for recording, synthesizers and sound design
took him down yet another path of musical knowledge where he spent fourteen years
in a local music store learning everything he could about recording gear and digital
technology.
Those years paid off eventually making his long time dream come true, his own
recording studio, Mountain Dog Music, in Ventura County, California where he
provides professional services for the community and his own recording projects.
"Mountain Dog Music,” says Tim, “is a place of accessibility for the nationally known
recording artist, as well as the local music enthusiast recording for the first time. The
facility has the gear to handle the demands of industry pros, but the studio
environment doesn't intimidate or exclude the amateur. I believe that creativity, which
comes from the heart, requires a relaxed atmosphere. Mountain Dog Music is just that
comfortable place to make music."
